Single Image — In Depth
Print by David Aimone
This print is from a while ago, but shows one aspect of the versatility of toned kallitype prints. These were red lilies, taken with 4×5″ film against a white background.
The texture and the charcoal like tones of this print come from both the 4×5″ film and using a combination of black developer and gold toning for the kallitype.
The second version shown is the same image but a different developer and gold toning, giving the print a slightly more purple/eggplant tone in this case. The differences are more pronounced with the actual prints in hand, more than showing on the screen here.
See the previous blog post for more information on kallitype printing and toning.
